John Amoruso began his distinguished exploration career with Pan Am (later Amoco), and discovered numerous fields in east Texas. Later, he became a successful independent. In 2002, John was responsible for the discovery of the Amoruso Field from deep Bossier sandstone reservoirs in east Texas. Encana is now the operator of this 3TCF field located in a mature basin between extensive existing production. John’s innovative approach was to recognize different sediment input into the basin coupled with a major salt raft, resulting in this large discovery. John is a former AAPG President, and the recipient of both the Michel T. Halbouty Leadership Award and the Norman H. Foster Outstanding Explorer Award.
