Mike Forrest is a world renowned exploration geophysicist who has worked with Shell Oil, Maxus Energy, and as a consultant. While with Shell, Mike was responsible for recognizing, and subsequent development of, “bright-spot” technology, the first use of seismic attributes in exploration. The work was done initially in the northern Gulf of Mexico, and eventually applied throughout many global basins. At Shell, Mike was General Manager of Exploration for the Gulf of Mexico. His position with Maxus was Vice President of Global Exploration. Since 2001, Mike has continued to investigate seismic attributes by supervising a large research consortium applied to risk analysis.
