Field geologist and sedimentologist Ken Glennie spent much of his career working for Royal Dutch Shell. Early field geology assignments included work in New Zealand, Canada, North Africa, India and Oman. Ken is recognized as an Aeolian and Ophiolite expert for his work in the field in general and on the Groningen Field in the Netherlands, and for his mapping in the Oman Mountains of Oman, respectively. He did extensive research on the geology of the North Sea as well. After retiring from Shell, Ken became an Honorary Professor at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. In addition to teaching, Ken particularly enjoys coaching the University’s teams for the AAPG International Barrel Award competitions. He received the AAPG Sidney Powers Memorial Award for his outstanding and exemplary career in research, field geology, publishing and teaching.
