Bernard Duval is an enthusiastic explorer, associate professor, philosopher and leader who values the principles of the team approach in working in both exploration and research programs. He participated with an IFP team in the discovery of a new field in the Barinas Basin and as manager of United States exploration for Total in expanding the reef play of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. As an exploration leader with Total, Bernard led his team in numerous oil and gas discoveries in Italy, Venezuela, Yemen, and Angola. They became partners with BP and Triton in Columbia, discovering the giant Cusiana and Cupiagua fields located in the foothills of the Eastern Cordillera, and the team discovered several large fields on the Mahakam Delta, Indonesia, where drilling was rejuvenation of a mature province. Bernard is now an associate professor at IFP School, teaching his specialties: petroleum geology, petroleum systems, risk analysis and portfolio management.
